This next stop was another fun visit with friends in Astoria/Warrenton, Oregon. Patrice, Peggy, and I were roommates in TWA Flight Attendant training and for several months afterward. We last saw each other in person in 1969, but it felt like yesterday. They made me wear a wiglet for our graduation because they said my hair was too flat! How about those gloves?
Bill took a break and let us catch up during the day, joining us for dinner in the evening. We looked at old photo albums and laughed at each other’s memories. We would never have lost touch if we had had Facebook back then. Now, because of Facebook, we have reconnected! This is why I hyphenated my last name when I married Bill. Do you know how many Kathy Bells there are in the world? And no one from my past would have been able to find me! One day, Patrice decided to see if she could find me and Voila!
Highlights of the visit included our visit to the Columbia River Maritime Museum, which was perfect for a rainy day. Since my friends could only stay for two days, I took Bill back there, and we also visited the Lightship.
We had some great meals, I had a great time with friends, and I think Bill enjoyed hearing about our exploits back in the day.
The Columbia River
After a few days on our own in Astoria/Warrenton, we headed out along the Columbia River toward Yellowstone. That was quite a trip, so we broke it up with stops in Maryhill State Park in Washington State and Wolf Lodge Campground in Coeur D’Alene, ID. Both were perfect for a one-night stop with full hookups.
Our next stop is Yellowstone!
